You will have to grow or taper the date series in a report to deduce the origin of the balance. In the given example the report dated 5/1/2018 through 7/30/2018 will include:

  • Paycheque- the date of a transaction is specified on the paycheque. It consists of paycheque bearing the date (in this example) 05/01/2018 for pay duration between 4/15 – 04/30/2018. Don’t include the paycheque bearing a date 08/01/2018 for the duration between 07/15 – 07/30/2018.
  • Employee Year-To-Date (YTD): here you need to mention the date of these transaction records, that has to be the same to the period ending date, with this any record dated in the report has to be counted.
  • Payroll Liability Cheque: in this, the liability duration-ending date will be specified. A liability cheque dated 8/15/2018 that compensated for a time ending 7/30/2015 is included in the report. A liability cheque with a date 5/15/2018 that compensated for a time ending 4/30/2018 will not be counted.
  • Liability Amendments: in this, the effective date of amendments is specified. A liability corrected bearing date 8/15/2018 that compensated for a time ending 7/30/2018 will be specified in the report.

Follow the steps to determine how Liabilities were compensated:

  • Go to the top bar menu, click on vendors, then choose the vendor center.
  • Locate the liability Vender, then right-click on the vendors and choose the Vendor Quick Report on the menu. 
  • Now change the date range to mention the month presenting the liability balance.
  • Go to the type column and mention the category of payment below. Now with the liability cheque, if you find anything itemized, this means that the liability is created mistakenly. 
  • Now in the QuickBooks create the liability properly in the planned or tailors liability payment section. 
  • Locate the setup and then create planned or tailored (ad hoc) liabilities for information regarding how to create or generate the liability disbursements in QuickBooks application.
  • Go to the cheque records and find the incorrect liability disbursement and then create an entry of the cheque number. 
  • Remove the incorrect disbursement
  • Change the cheque number in the record to see the number you have entered.
  • Click on the save option and close it.
  • Create a payroll liability report, to make sure that the balance is right.

Follow the steps to obtain this report:

  • Choose the reports and then look for employees and payroll. Now open payroll liability balances.
  • Now click on the customize report and then change the “from and to” dates to show the range you need to view.
